DELL OptiPlex 7050: My New Wi Fi Network Name Not on the List

I see many other Spectrum network names on the list. Spent an hour with Spectrum support. My Spectrum network name shows up on my other PC and laptop. I did not see that they charge $55 for Dell tech support! Did all kinds of command prompt stuff for nothing. The agent suggested taking it in for professional repair! No way. Can't afford it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Most providers will combine the 2.4 ghz and 5ghz signal into one broadcast and if you have an older wifi adapter then it most likely it won't see it. You might have to separate the 2 bands, you'll need to contact spectrum for help on this. What is your current wifi card?

Hi, thank you. Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260, which I see was launched late 2013. Why is it seeing other Spectrum networks?

It should see it since its an AC adapter. However, it looks like intel has discontinued providing updates for that chip. You can try going here to see if there is an updated driver for it by doing the autoupdates but unlikely.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html

use the autodetect method and see what happens.

Otherwise you might want to just get a new wireless card.

Since we don't know the setup of those other networks, couldn't tell you. What type of wireless security are you using? Your encryption may be too strong for the card.

I'm connected. I found the driver updates by clicking your link to Intell but I could not find the AC 7260 updated drivers. So I searched online. Someone posted in Reddit, said they're there but hidden and gave the link.

But you put me on the right track and I thank you. Just think, Dell tech said nary a word about updated drivers, probably as instructed by Dell. As for that $55 they charged me, I emailed a rep who instantly refunded it.

THANKS AGAIN!
