Dell Optiplex GX110 no display + beeps

I cleaned the computer (Dell Optiplex GX110) yesterday. When I was done and turned it on the monitor showed code, in many colors, but eventually booted just fine. Today it had a black and white start-up stuff, but had an error about the memory had changed; proceeding led to the computer being unable to boot up.

I opened the machine back up, removed and reinserted the RAM, checked that everything was connected properly, and then tried again. Now the display is without output to display and there are beeps, I think it is one long and then three short. It does that twice. Of the the times I listened to it the CD - ROM drive opened after the beeps. I checked the monitor connection and that did not fix anything. It is plugged into the monitor port that does not have a 2 marking.

According to the service manual:

1-3 - Video Memory Test failure - Run the VESA/VGA Interface tests in the Dell Diagnostics.

Try sticking the RAM in another slot. If that doesn't work, pull the CMOS battery for 10 minutes and try again.

How would I run the diagnostics?

There are only two RAM slots and both are taken.

I tried the battery thing, but only for a few minutes. Is there a large difference between around 5, and 10?

Usually 5 minutes will work but you also must unplug power supply from power outlet and press the power button on the case a few times to discharge any remaining power.

I tried unplugging and reconnecting things, and it seems to be working now. I much have missed something on my first round if it, or the battery thing allowed it to work this time. Thank you for your help.
