dell utility / restore partition concern? help

hi. im getting an inspiron 640m today. I want to do fresh installations of everything so I know what is in my system,as they put alot of crap in it.

I want to delete the dell utility and restore paritions. Would this affect or disable the media direct 3 ( as i want to keep this )?

Also, is there any disadvantage of deleting the utility and partition? I plan to partition my hard drive and install both xp and vista on it. I have both the os cd's. any info would be great. thanks
 
Run Fdisk and delete both or delete the restore partition and then run a debug on the one already made to wipe it all off clean and then make another partition for vista.
 
Yeah just run Fdisk with a older verison of windows like 98 se or just 98 and You can delete and add partitons or you can put in windows xp and boot it off the cd rom and use XP partition cteater . :)
