dell won't connect to wifi when WEP is enabled

dell inspiron b130, XP SP2 Intel 2200 card

I updated the drivers for the card and the router
The laptop will only connect if WEP is disabled, I have not tried it with WPA/ WPA2
it's not an option in my current router.
The correct WEP key was used and channel, also tried setting to "open" and "shared"

Is there a patch that fixes WEP issues?
 
It has to be a problem with the wireless card as my friend also has the b130 and has no problems using wep. What version of the driver do you have installed?
