I hate Dell. I have owned two Dell's. I was going to buy an XPS 400 not too long ago then I got bumped in the head and figured out how much money I was wasteing. This is was I was going to get with Dell for about $1,200.
Processor: Pentium 4 HT 3 Ghz. (if I remember correctly)
RAM: 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs
HD: 250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache
OD: Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
Monitor: 19 inch E197FP Analog Flat Panel
Video card: 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS
For about $1500 I built my own custom computer and got:
CPU: Core Two Duo 2.13 GHz. E6400
RAM: 2 GB. Corsair 800 MHz. XMS2 DDR2
Graphics: X1900XT 512MB Connect3D
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
PSU: 535 watt Enermax Whisper II
HD: 250 GB. Seagate Barracuda 16 MB.
OD: 52X DVD±RW
Monitor: 19" widescreen digital LCD monitor
Case: Sweet case that would totally own any cases Dell has ever made both for performance and looks.
So the choice is obvious... My computer that I have now can excicute commands in half the time the Dell can and it can play games on max resolution and settings with absolutely no lag where the Dell couldn’t.
DON’T GET DELL!!!!! They are trash in my opinion. Now if you are looking for a every day all around computer then they are fine. But if you are looking for true performance they are not the way to go.
Also let me tell you something from experience. Both their sales team and their tech support team is undoubatly the worst in the industry. I have never deled with less knowledgeable people in my life. THEY KNOW NOTHING! NOTHING!!!!! They could never fix my computer problems when I had my first Dell (only a couple of months ago). It is for that reason why I have an account on six computer forums.
This forum rules! There are actually people on here that know what they are talking about and can help me. When I have a real question, I come here.
