Dell Xps M1330

what are your thoughts about the XPS M1330?
im kind of annoyed that it comes only with vista and theres no option to buy it with XP.

If you go to the driver download page for that model, XP is listed as possible OS's and looks like all the drivers are there so it looks like it could be downgraded to XP. Call Dell and find out.

When you have a system that a has a newer operating system on it and you want to put an older operating system on it, its usually called downgrading. But as far as I'm concerned installing XP is an upgrade to Vista. :)
 
same here. Haven't heard of that sort of downgrading. Either way I just got a new laptop and instead of downgrading to XP (like it better, more compatible), I did a partition for XP and left my Vista OS.

Eventually Vista will surpass XP, in everything, specially looks (which it has surpassed already).


If you are sure about this "downgrading" then go ahead and do it; otherwise I'ld advise to do a partition and leave your Vista there, you might need it for later; unless you have the cd key and not much free space in Hard drive.

Thank you for the replys. it seems that if i do want an XPS model i wil have to or get along with the vista or format it and install the XP.
since its going to be my first laptop, do i get the original vista CD, or just the vista already installed inside?

MightyKing, from your signature, i understand you own the M1530. Can you compare it to the M1330?
Im not considering the M1330 because im gonna play lots of games with it. im thiking about the M1330 cuz i want a light and small laptop and i want it to have good specs. the laptop will always be secondary to my desktop PC especially for games, but if im going to have a laptop, i want it to have good specs in a price range of 1000-1500 dollars, and play games from time to time while on the go. thats why i was thinking about the M1330.
besides, any thoughts you people have about the M1330 that will help me decide if its a good purchase will be appriciated

Yeah I do own a M1530, it's pretty good. I also saw the one you talking about, its not so far behind this one. If you won't use it for gaming then i recommend it.

Compared to this laptop, i've read review that say its lighter and smaller (duh). So yeah, it was a though choice between the 1330 and the 1530, but iwanted more gaming so i chose this one.
