Simply. Dell. *posts a meme of Johnny Depp staring into the horizon*

I'm 99% about to buy this Dell model. If you're inclined, I'd like to read some of your own stories about Dell laptops. It's known for its computers' robustness, plain looks, and usually for high performance. But do you have any comment/anecdote you'd like to add here ?

Might help to know what specific Dell model you are wanting. How can we offer any help without knowing that?

I like Dell. I have had many Dell laptops over the years. I don't do any heavy stuff on mine just general computing. I like them, mainly, because of their back up service. If they can't fix it online they will pick it it up from your home and sort it then bring it back during the guarantee period. Means I don't have to go traipsing round shops talking to numptys. Also more often than not their prices are right although they aren't at the moment. This is UK, dunno how they fare in America.

Oh I just meant the brand generally but yeah here's the one I'm eyeing:
Dell G3 15-3579-9785

i7 8th gen 6 Core, can take up to 32RAM, can take two hard drives, pretty good for gaming but more importantly for me video editing work...
Apparently the display is dim. I haven't been able to find another computer that's this good specs wise, this reasonably priced, AND with a top display. One Acer popped up, but eh not trusting them. Also a few Asus, but I'm selling this current Asus I'm typing on now so... might as well try sth new.

Asus make some of the best IMO. Acers are pretty good these days too but I'd still opt for an Asus or Dell over them.

From what I'm seeing its only up to 16gb of ram.
no no it takes up to 32. You know how it is, varying on which site you buy it on, it's a slightly different version of the same model. The one I'm (probably) getting has an Intel Core i7-8750H (Hexa-Core 2.2 GHz / 4.1 GHz Turbo). That Dell G3 model originally came with an i5.

I'm pretty happy about the idea of owning a Dell. It's almost like a blast from the past, remember those old 10kg Dell laptops from the early 2000's people carried around... and they're still around.

Well Dell's official website with that exact number you gave us says 16GB. It makes no sense for them NOT to advertise that even some of the models go up to 32GB.

I know I saw that, thanks for that man.
I do have a link but it's in french lol.

Under "Mémoire". -> Taille de mémoire Maximum : 32Go.

I'm thinking I'm getting the G5 instead if I go the Dell route (pay a few more hundred euros, fork it...).
Btw you guys are pretty spoiled there in the States. The prices are pretty substantially lower for each item. Like a couple hundred bucks for a laptop, that sort of difference.

Yeah I'd take Dell over some french vendor honestly. :P

For what you'd do I'd opt for a 17" anyway.

That could be a typo!!! Even Dells website in France says only 16gb. You better double check with them before buying.
