denied access

I wrote an article for publication tht includes photographs. I like to present articles to the Editor on CD when graphics are included. I label my DVD, CD drive as Z so it won't change as I add new hard drives. When I attempt to write to Z I get a message that I am denied access to the drive. This is a home computer, I built it myself from salvaged parts. I wrote the article with no assistance from anyone and I took the photographs. How can I disingage the program that denies me access to my own computer?

Yes, I see z in My Computer. I can even use Z for other applications, but when I attempt to save the winward document to CD I get the denied access message.
