Designing Software

I'm starting my Journalism degree soon and I'm requiring some kind of designing software to make articles, etc with.

Doesnt adobe have a program that you can use to design pages...
I imagine you could use photoshop but i think they have a program just for page desing.
Cant think of the name...course it might be outdated now too.

I have no idea about Adobe.

And money's an issue, being a student saving up, I don't want to spend too much money. Some of those Adobe programs are incredibly expensive!
