Desktop change in Windows 11 after someone else logged in

Hello all,

I have a friend who had someone log into her computer and as a result she's lost her desktop icons. I'm thinking this might have been an issue with syncing accounts, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what might have happened and how to remedy the situation so she can access her desktop icons again?

Thank you.

Have her right click on an open spot and click on view then view icons. Do you mean they went through remote assistance or someone was physically at her place and accesses the pc? Hopefully she didnt allow remote access and not know this person and wasn't a scam.

Someone was physically at her pc and signed in under their account. That's why I was thinking it was the syncing of accounts that took place. It was a work computer, but our IT guy is not here, and when he's not, I seem to be the one who gets the calls for this sort of thing.

Maybe the computer is still logged into with the second person's account? Log out or restart and login with the proper account?

Each login has their own profile. Some icons may be shown to all users but other icons would not be deleted by others, unless they have admin privileges.

To confirm, the someone used their own account, and not your friend's account? (assuming a network login since you mention work).

Things that comes to mind, is that when the friend logged in, they are now logged into a temp account.
