Desktop Icons all became the generic mini window
Please advise.

Well this usually happens when the icon that used to be shown is no longer present, but the shortcut is. Which means you removed or uninstalled the program, or you moved the place the .exe can be found. If you dont have the software anymore, you dont need the icon. But if the program is still there you can just delete the old non icon shortcut and drag and drop and new one...
