Desktop Is Out of Style

Hi All,

I have a desktop that I built 8 years or so ago. It was a beast back then.

Athlon 64 Venice, Xp Pro, 3GB Patriot RAM, Sapphire X550 Video, and a sexy NZXT case.

Needless to say... it's out of style and out of date. I've moved on from my PC gaming days and primarily use my laptop for my PC needs.

My desktop is a paper weight. What should I do with it?

Not worth parting out...

Ideas?

I had one this summer that i blew out, changed the battery, did a new install and gave it away to family or friends. They were for the kids. Then again i have one for paying bills, accessing bank accounts etc. Just business only. Ive given them away many times.

Harvest any parts that may be of use to you in the future, destroy the HDD if it has any secure/confidential info on it, and donate it to a charity. There are tons of local organisations around my city that are collecting PCs, old or new, for underprivileged families. Most people honestly don't need top end specs if they'll just be web browsing or writing documents.

Donate it to charity or a local club or organisation or something or give it to a family member. It doesn't actually look too bad at all.

I have a system of the same spec laying around (Athlon 64 3700+, 1GB DDR, GeForce 6600 GT etc) and I just keep it as a back-up computer in case something happens to my main computer. That might be worth thinking about.
