Hi guys and girl,
I have been looking into ways of making my desktop more organized. Hit up a bit of Rocketdock and some Rainmeter plugs, but I tend to be a minimalist so they didnt last long.
Then I came across a very nice app called deskview.exe, from an author forgotten by time. Its very simple. It just chances the default desktop icon view from "icons" to "lists", just as one commonly does in folder views.
The results are amazing. My desktop is very well organized now and I can finally fully enjoy my wallpaper without it getting cluttered. Returning to the default icon view is easy, as I just have to click on the 11kb deskview.exe app, once again to undo the changes.
However, the program doesnt save its settings anywhere and every time my computer goes to sleep or I restart, I have to start all over, click on deskview.exe and then rarrange the icons the way I like.
I have been tampering with the registry for many years, tweaking things here and there. I'm thinking that this little app is a temporary registry tweak, but I havent been able to find what it actually does.
Can we put our heads together and figure this out? Noone has been able to do this before. I have come across some VB scripts, but I dont understand them...
Thanks guys.
