Desktop lock?

Is there a way for me to stay logged on to my computer when I'm away and maybe put a lock on my desktop so if anyone tries to get on it they can't. I really don't want to log off and use a password if there's another way! Thanks!

Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on/off > Un-check the Welcome Screen

Then all you have to do is CTRL+ALT+DEL, and press K. Then the computer is locked so you need the password to regain control.

*Assuming you have Windows XP...

What if I'm recording a video and my webcam is on? It will turn off webcam as it won't be able to view and record anything anymore, right?

It shouldn't effect it, because your not logging off or putting the computer in standby. It's just like having it on, except you can only see whats on the desktop if you enter your password.

Just hold the Window key down and press L. That will lock your desktop.

I was looking for the shortcut key for that, lol.

Do you know if that only works if you have the welcome screen disabled, or does it work in either type of log on?
