Ok i got a weird question. while in school at the dorms i have both my desktop (with a crt monitor) and a laptop and all the accessories such as a mouse, keyboard, and speakers; the desk is VERY cluttered. i want to know if there is a way to use my laptop as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse to control the desktop and the laptop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok my second question then is it possible to use the laptop as just the monitor? im pretty sure there is. How do you do that is there anthing special i need to buy. if not how do i set it up.

I ran a 17" lcd seeing a 12ms response time for the last 4+yrs. until it was time for a better one. After first getting accustomed to the brigher much more clear display the overall desktop space then free of a crt's tube on an old Phillips model so much better was the key phrase for that.

Laptops themselves usually see a port or two for external mice and keyboards if you no longer want a desktop taking up space. But then you are limited to the laptop all the time rather then getting more out of a full desktop especially if you game alot.

Laptop monitors don't aren't able to be used as seperate monitors. There are no inputs for other machines.

The only way that would be possible would be networking the desktop with laptop for a remote feed. Simply going with an lcd would be the simplified method to free up space on the top of a desk or eliminate the desktop altogether which is probably something you don't want.

Believe me when I say that seeing the first 15" lcd for $300 there to see a boat anchor crt gone was a big relief! Since then however you can easily find even larger 19-20" models seen now for under $200.
