desktop/ubuntu from scratch

Hi, I am hoping to purchase a desktop that one may have XP or the other may have no operating system. Both are similar to the one listed below:

- Celeron 2.8
- 1 GB ram
- DLink DGE-530T Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
- 122 GB Harddrive
- Invidia G-Force 4MX400
Asking: $125

I primarily want a used desktop to mess around with ubuntu/linux with without messing up my desktop. Is it difficult to get this a system running with ubuntu or is it hard to get all the drivers and such up and going. Also, how difficult is it to put another HDD in a system like this. I have an extra from an old computer. Would it require drivers or could I just plug it in? I have not done much hardware/start from scratch kind of stuff, but i have messed around a little and have read some.

Thanks, Jason

Ubuntu is not necesarrily hard but it at times can be time consuming depending on your setup. For me, installing and getting drivers was fairly easy. There are loads of people waiting to help in the ubuntu IRC channel.

Installing a hard drive would depend on the mother board but I imagine it would be doable. When you install the extra hard drive, i think it would just be a matter of sticking it in the case, checking the jumpers on the harddrive and then formatting it.
