i've recently come across a problem i've never seen before...

i have a computer with a windows logon... this is NOT a user logon... its a direct windows logon... i can boot thru bios... i get the windows welcome screen (xp home) however as it passes this point it goes to a windows logon...

the computer crashed and lost the password... it will NOT let me logon... i am locked out of my computer...

is there a way to by pass this right after bios...

i dont have the original windows key either...

can i use my recovery consol to repair this or by pass it... i need to get into this drive without reformatting it... it contains 30 gigs of business information...

any help would be greatly appreciated... again this is not a user logon... its a windows logon...

Sounds like you haven't validated your Windows XP Operating System yet. If this is true, you might have to call Microsoft and have them to give you a key to logon back in.

this computer was coming in for a complete format of the drives... of course it was validated...its been running for some months on these windows...

it has a windows logon that has kicked out the password and will not let me logon to windows... all i'm looking for is a way to bypass or to change the password so that i can access some of the files to save them to put them on a bigger drive and a new windows install...

I believe the simplest route would be to take your drive and remove it, make it a slave drive and put in into another computer that will be able to store your information. (no access to the OS required :))

Have you tried booting into safe mode and login as administrator and change or remove password for that account?

i put the drive in an external HD and it still gives me an error saying "access denied" should i set it up as an actual slave...

i cant logon...the password doesnt work... it wants a different one and i dont know it... cuz the one that worked is no longer working...
