Desperate Need Help with HP Pavilion

Okay I have dealt with windows 8 for too long this is about to be the end of year two with it. I have an Hp Pavilion g7-2246nr. 6gb of RAM, AMD-A6 2.7-3.2GHz and I have to take it down to windows 7. I have noticed that it is much more difficult to do this than with previous windows editions. I don't care, windows 8 forced updated to 8.1 and it made most of my stuff stop working. This laptop runs great still, I take great care of it and I have windows 7 on my desktop running great with a significantly worse cpu. I can only imagine how well it would work with this computer. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?!

What specifically isn't working? Windows 8.1is actually a great operating system.

In order to even boot to the windows 7 install cd you will need to change a couple bios settings. Disable secure boot and enable legacy boot.

Windows 8 was made for tablets. 8.1 was just an update for computer users and them basically saying "our bad" 8.1 is awful it uses too many resources and has all but made windows explorer freeze 4 out of 10 times I use it. My USB Ports auto eject at random media player won't work right and any and every adobe product will load and then close out. I had none of these issues with regular windows 8 but they forced updated to 8.1 so I'm stuck unless I go back to windows 7. Oh and that "start button" they said they added won't even work. As for legacy boot I know that part but I'm looking for something in depth to help me do it. I don't want to mess up my machine.

Honestly sounds to me like the upgrade to 8.1 wasn't too smooth. What version of Adobe products are running? Back when I made the 8 -> 8.1 transition I was running CS5.5 and I noticed after the upgrade (months after I did it!) Audition CS5.5 wasn't working with 8.1 (similar problems to what you are having), but on my laptop which had 8.1 Audition CS5.5 was working perfectly so clearly the upgrade from 8 to 8.1 was the problem. Reinstalled Audition CS5.5 and it worked.

I'd recommend either uninstalling/reinstalling your Adobe suite or just reinstall your machine and start fresh again. I think reinstalling Windows fresh would be better.

You could use 7 or if you wanted to give 8 another try, install 8, just do Windows Updates (don't install anything), then update to 8.1 and then install all your programs - or better still get a Windows 8.1 disc to avoid the lengthy process of going from 8-> 8.1.

Great! Which gets me back to my original question how do I do it without harming my system. I want windows 7 I have a legit copy, I know I have to legacy boot it. What else

Put the install cd in the cd drive and boot to it and follow the prompts. You will need to install drivers after the install and hopefully you will be able to find them all as HP doesn't have windows 7 drivers on their website for that model. Make sure you have recovery cd's available to reinstall windows 8.
