Desperately in need of help

i have a problem the only thing that appears on my desktop is my wallpaper when i use windows task manager to run explorer.exe it would not load and i tried all sorts of things to get explorer.exe to load my desktop. I used a patch to fix it it wouldnt work.

Have you tried reformating and reinstalling windows?

i do not want to reinstall windows i have important files i might loose

What actually caused the problem to start?

Installing New programs?

Why don't you try one of these

- insert your windows installation disk>rebooting you computer>boot from cd>and choose "r" to repair windows

OR

-Boot up in safe mode and back up your inportant files either onto a removable audio/video disk, usb memory stick, floppies etc
