Destroyed?

Hi,

I have a ASUS P5Q Pro motherboard from a system I built at the end of '08/early '09. I purchased an extended warranty on the motherboard, but, I'm not sure if it's still valid.

I was watching a video on YouTube when my cat bumped the power strip and hit the switch on it that basically cuts off all of the power. I turned it back on and when booting my PC back up, I got this legendary error:

"USB Over Current Status Detected! Computer will shut down in 15 seconds."

Fantastic.

Was working perfectly fine before that. Add onto that, I don't think I have the manual for my motherboard anymore (still have the box however). The front panel USB connectors have not been working for awhile, but, actually, VERY recently, the last front USB connector stopped working as well and that could be a possible cause. Though, I have no idea where to check for the wiring for the front USB connectors as I do not have the manual.

I tried loosening the motherboard screws to no avail as I read online. I had this error once before on the same type of motherboard when I first got my system. The motherboard itself was defective then.

So, I have reason to believe that the computer being shut down quickly ONCE fried it. Completely moronic and other adjectives that would be inappropriate for this post. But, anything I should be checking for before I bust the motherboard over my knee?

Thanks,

Necifix

On the far right in this picture the 3 grouped blue connections are the USB connections. Disconnect anything that is plugged into those.

Just curious, what case are you using and when you had the first mobo? Was it in the same case? Also did all the USB's work at one point in time?
