So, ive just installed linux and its all working fine and dandy.

But, im not sure where to start with programming on it, on windows i used dev c++ and visual studio to programme, what are the best compilers on ubuntu?

Also what GDK's and SDK's are avaliable, i want to get back to developing games again.

Thanks in advance.

c++ with FLTK? (? is supposed to be there) is supposed to be good with cross-os. i personally haven't programmed much on ubuntu though.
you can use it well with g++ etc though.
library wise i'd use
C
Python
php
sql

for games, you can check out pygame library for python.

EDIT:
forgot Mono, it's being pushed by alot of GNOME writers. never used, honeslty don't know a thing about it, but something to google up. heard Novell supports it? anyway, it's got a huge base if you need help with stuff.
