Device Manager Displays Incorrect CD ROM

I'm running dual boot Win7/Vista. My drive says ativa on the front, it is a lightscribe DVD Recorder.

Vista device manager names the drive "TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653F ATA Device" the driver being used is cdrom.sys. Win 7 device manager simply calls the drive "CD-ROM Drive". It is using the same driver as Vista, cdrom.sys.

What can I do to get Win 7 to recognize the drive the way Vista does?

Does it really matter? If it works, I don't see the problem.

Same. TSST just stands for Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology. One OS may want to be specific in the device manager while the other one wants to just say what the generic device is.

It is obvious, W7 OS is more updated on its drivers than Vista, so it will be a bit more descriptive on info......

It really does not matter which version is more descriptive. They both work on the drive the same, and there is probably nothing other than a firmware update to the DVD drive that will require you to know the exact info that vista is showing.

Yes, thank you. I was afraid that I would lose some of my lightscribe functionality but a quick install of the lightscribe system software confirms that the drive is setup correctly and recognized. Thank you.

Is kinda odd. I have close to the same drive and 7 calls it a TSSTcorp CDDVDW SHS243N ATA Device and a CD/DVD-ROM
