DFX or Creative Xmod,which is better?

As many of you know, mp3's compress sound from a CD (24-bit) to 16-bit. To artificially restore the quality, you have to do something extra like getting DFX 8 (http://www.fxsound.com/) or Creative Xmod (http://reviews.cnet.com/Creative_Xmod/4505-3022_7-32105686.html). The DFX 8 is a software costing $19 while the Xmod costs like ~$70. To those who've tried DFX 8, is it any good?

You could just get a Creative Labs sound card (like mine or the X-Fi series)
