diagnose my problem please

my buddy asked canada computers for a gaming rig and he ended up with a rig that cant play games


bioshock- freezes in game two seconds after it starts

ut3 - can't find and online servers but works when he follows me in

red orchestra- doesn't load up at all

cod4 - gives him a window telling him the cd doesn't read


he can intall games and play movies so i doubt its the cd reader...


any guesses??

p.s, its a dual core running on vista with an 8800 gts

along with 2 sticks of ram, his processor runs at 2.40

have you tried running Memtest86 yet? its either a flawed hdd, or a Ram problem by the looks of it.

hes gona try mem test but i forgot to add... he was able to run crysis without a problem, would that rule out a memory or HDD problem??

not at all, makes it even more random to be honest. (maybe crysis is installed ona good part of the hdd for example.)

I have had a poblem with my pc randomly freezing, I had memtest running, and got errors there, but it turned out that my SATA DVD-drive was the cause, with my old IDE one in the pc again, I ran Memtest without a problem. it might be worth trying, perhaps its the same here
