Diagnosis required

My friends got a 'HP G6000' which stopped holding charge approx 3 months ago, since then it has been used on the charger only.
Then the fan stopped working about 10 days ago.

Now when the laptop is turned on the HDD light, Power light and Keyboard light all come on for approx 1 second and thats it, nothing more, no bios or post and nothing on the screen.
I've tried 2 chargers which work on other laptops, so have ruled out power problems.

I'm thinking either Bios Chip or Processor.

Any advice please.

Sounds like the motherboard is shot. It's really not worth fixing because it's an HP and HP laptops are junk. You're better off getting a new laptop.

I feel if one gets two or three years out of any laptop they are lucky ducks. And about HP laptops being junk, there all junk IMHO.
I read where all brands have problems, I just had to return for a exchange, my new ASUS G73HJ and I was advised it ASUS was a better brand.
Like anything these days if they work they are great,if they don't their junk.
