Dial up is driveing me crazy

:mad: Does your isp make a difference in your Internet speed? I have Netzero and it sucks. I can't get cable or DSL where I'm at so I' am stuck with dial up or Direcway. I had Direcway at one time and hated it. It was to expensive for what you got and the customer service was trouble. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
which ISP you have wont make a difference with your internet speed (assuming all their dial-up services are 56k). you might just wanna look for the cheapest...
 
Its all about your phone lines...your phone company only has to provide you with the ability to connect with at least 14.4k in the USA. So even if you have a 56k modem you will never connect at that speed. When I had dial up I use to connect at 33.6k and then when I moved the best I could get was 28.8k and sometimes it was even slower.

Only suggestion I have for you is to maybe FAX your info back and forth it might be faster...LOL!

Dial up is like watching the grass grow or waiting for paint to dry, never again will I have dial up!

I would recommend getting a Dial-Up accelerator, what it does is compresses text and photos, which in-turn makes pages load quicker. It doesnt help with downloading or games, but it makes web pages load fairly faster.

But note, that it can dramatically reduce image quality.
