Did I buy the wrong video card?

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 Desktop and was trying to upgrade my video card. I bought this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150107

I installed it in my computer and when I start up the monitor is just static and a bunch of colors. I can't see my desktop or anything to install the driver. I figure it must be the wrong card but when I bought it I was told it should work with my system. Can anyone help?

DId you install it in the right slot, I see the specs of you 8300 it has 4 PCI slots and one AGPx8.

Take a look at the pic below. Does your AGPx8 look like the in the picture?

If I'm not mistaken, your AGP slot should be green?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it's in the right slot, because I removed my old video card and put the new one in the same slot. It is the AGP slot and looks just like the one in the picture. Could it be something regarding the fact that the card is DDR2 and my computer takes DDR?
PS yes the slot is green

No the memory on board the card has nothing to do with the memory your computer excepts. It could just be a bad card. See if everything work with your old card in.
