Well a little while ago my dad bought 256 SDRAM for our computer to add to the 128(soon upgrading to another 256) so we have 384 MB. I really dont even notice a diffrence. When I downloaded CPU-Z it said it was the following:

256 MB
Max bandwith: PC133
Manufacter: 00000000000000000000
coreection:none
registered: no
buffered:no

What does that mean??? Is it in there right because would it displace the info??? Also, what is buffering???

The loss of RAM I would normally contribute to IGP, but that is too much, and too high a percentage to be that....

its only a 128MB loss which isn't entirely unreasonable for a IGP to take but try switching the slots the RAM is in

I know, but when you only have 384MB, it is a lot

I thought windows xp would only reconize ram if it is 64, 128, 256, 512, 1gig, 2 and so fourth not mixed matched with different sized chips?

That makes sense, but I don't think he was running XP with only 128MB

It does? XP can run as long as it has enough memory ... how much it has doesnt matter.

I installed windows xp Pro on a laptop with 64 meg and it run like a charm! I then installed Norton for laughs and the laptop came to a stand still :-).

Depending on your board you might not be able to mix the sticks with differents sizes like that although it has been done with sucess. Also I agree that 128meg is alot of ram and especialy when your dealing with so little to begin with! I'd personaly go back and purchase another 256 stick and replace the 128meg entirely.

ANY
memory...i think it was a bad stick of 512, but oh well...building in-progress now.
