So you're on a really tight budget? That 15" monitor is really going to bug you later in life... How long are you planning on keeping this until you upgrade?

well my friend is tight on cash now, he needs a new car and a bunch of stuff but he needs most a new computer. his is like a p2 that wont even boot anymore. he might keep it 3 or 4 years but having the latest technology dosent bother him

You can downgrade your HDD drive to a PATA instead of SATA, that would prob save you ~$10-$15. You could also get a smaller HDD, say 80gb or 120gb.

You can buy XP off eBay for about half the price. And i would also recommend a 17" LCD monitor, you can get one new for around $175. My 19" only costs $175 after rebate.

do you think he is better off buying a dell. i know what i said about them but he is really in a money tight situation

I hate dells, but I really think that would be the better option. He is not doing anything intensive. And when your on a tight budget, you can usually get a good deal with a dell and a monitor.
