Did I miss the free Win10 upgrade?

I sent in the request for the free upgrade months ago, but never installed. I’m using Win 7 and have had notices pop up almost every day to install, but just did not have the time to do it.I thought I heard a tech guy on the radio say something about time running out although I'm not sure because I was talking to someone at the time.

So now I have time to install it, but can’t find the start install icon. Where is it?

Thanks I guess I'll have to start over again because the system try icon is gone. I was just going though some of the other Win10 threads and getting cold feet again. I remember a time when there was no question about upgrading, you just did it. Now after ME and Win 8 I'm a little nervous. :(

The free upgrade offer is good thru Aug 29, 2016.

The time running out thing you heard may have been referring to the fact that once you do the upgrade you have a 30 day window where you can change your mind and rollback to the previous version of Windows.

Don't depend on Windows update for the upgrade, download this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install

It will give YOU control over when the Win 10 upgrade gets done.

Well I just completed the install and I'm not sure if I like it because I'm not used to apps. I don't know if I'm ready for such a drastic change and I hope I'll be able to go back to Win 7 if I can't do this. Some of my old free cad programs will not even load up, but there are some new stuff that looks promising like the math program.

The apps are optional, for the most part. I don't use many apps on either Win 8.1 or 10. You might want to try installing your CAD programs using Compatibility mode, I've found very few programs that can't be made to work.

Thanks, The weird thing was is that it shows in the Apps List, but has no functionality. So I went into my program files to find the application and ran it from there. It works great from there so I made a shortcut to my task bar and it works fine.

Update: So I decided to try and remove the icon from my Apps list and suddenly it worked. o_OThis is going to drive me crazy. LOL

Just burn the media off microsoft site, and assuming your current version of 7 is activated/genuine you can choose the upgrade option and do it that way!
