Difference between Bit and MB?

Hello there, I'm currently hunting around for a new computer and being a gamer a graphics card is important to me. I have encountered two sorts of graphics card, ones with MB and one with Bits. Is there any difference in the power of these? EG, is a 256MB graphics card the same power as a 256Bit card?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Not those are refering to different things. The more bits in the bus the faster the memory transfer is (you can think of it like a highway, the more lanes you have the more cars can travel fown it at the same time)

The memory bandwidth (bits) is more of an indicator of performance than the memory size (bytes). You could have as much memory as you want on a card, but it won't matter if the memory can't communicate fast enough with the GPU, so a 128mb, 256 bit card will hands down out perform a 256mb, 128 bit card. A specific example would be comparing a 256mb radeon x300, which will run you a little over $50, and a 128mb GeForce 6800, which will fly in circles around the x300 and cost about $150 more.

If you're looking for a good card for the future though, you should probably get 256 in both categories.
