Difference between VelociRaptor and SSD?

So i know a SSD loads much, much quicker than a SATA,
so whats the difference between a VelociRaptor and a SSD? are they as fast as each other?
i know a VelociRaptor is 10,000RPM but i cant seem to find out how fast a SSD is =/

A Velociraptor is a SATA HDD, it just Spins faster than usual, so it gives better performance. Still not as fast as any decent SSD though.
 
VelociRaptor is a mechanical hard drive, just a really fast one. SSD stands for "solid state drive" and as the name implies, there's no moving parts (and no RPM to compare to hard drives) - the technology used is similar to that used in USB thumb drives, only just better (faster and more reliable). Since there's no moving parts and latencies involved with physically moving things to access data, SSDs are generally a lot faster (beware of the cheap ones, though).

Also, SATA is simply the type of connection the drives use. SSDs use SATA as well.

1. SSD is much faster than an HDD (Veliciraptors are HDD's), SATA is just the type of connection that both SSD and HDD's use.

i know a VelociRaptor is 10,000RPM but i cant seem to find out how fast a SSD is =/

HDD's spin and thus the velociraptor can have 10,000 RPM (revolutions per minute)
SSD's do NOT spin, and thus there is no RPM associated with them.

Decent to good SSD's are much better than even excellent HDD's.

SSD definately.

SSD Pros;
No moving parts; Quieter and Less Power Consumption.
Much faster than your traditional hard drive.

SSD Cons;
Not exactly cheap, but is affordable.

Velociraptor Pros;
Cheaper than SSD.
Offers more space than a SSD.

Velociraptor Cons;
Noisier.
Not as fast as a SSD.
 
SSD's have zero moving parts, are blazing fast but relatively expensive. VelociRaptor drives are relatively fast (they spin at 10000rpm vs 7200rpm for most drives) and have more capacity than an SSD.
