Difference Between XFX 8800 GTS and XFX 8800 GTS XXX

I am asking about the 320Mb versions. Is there a difference, in a hardware perspective?

Can i just buy a regular 8800 GTS 320Mb and Flash it with the XXX bios?

You may run into some problems since not all 8800GTS's have the same exact chip or memory type.

You would be better off just overclocking the standard XFX to the XXX XFX speeds and see if its stable.

The reason the regular one didnt become an XXX, was most likely because it couldnt handle the clock speeds, so by flashing it, you risk having the clocks set too high, thereby not even allowing you to boot into windows without errors.

Well, that does hold true for ALL graphics cards, most graphics cards are really overclockable and the higher price of the XXX is not justified in my opinion. I have a 7900GT and I can clock at WAY higher than any factory overclocked card.

I would get a well-known brand that is one of the cheapest.

EVGA is known to be one of the cheaper brands.. They don't include alot of extras with the card, but who cares?
