difference in dual core and high end 64

For gaming purposes would it be better to get a higher end amd 64 4000+ or an amd x2 3800+? Also, what other factors would be beneficial to each one...please bare with me I'm new to this processor stuff...thanks!

I would definatley go with the X2 3800+. Right now only a handful games are utilizing dual core CPU's, which means that the 4000+ might outperform the X2 in games. But, in the near future we are going to see more dual core utilzing games, which makes the X2 more "future proof". Hope that clears up a bit. In the long run, you will get much better performance. I highly recommend going with the X2.
