Different browsers, different internet speed?

I was checking my internet speed [which is supposed to be 2mps] on speedtest.net and on Google chrome the download speed shows 0.97mbs.
On Firefox it shows 1.87mps.

howcome?

I have seen the same thing...I also get different speeds with different browsers. Internet browsers must download and upload information differently. I was a die-hard Firefox fan for years but tried Opera one day...I get the best performance using Opera.

Different browsers do give different results but a difference of 900kbps is to much.
Did you have something downloading when you ran the test on google chrome?

Depending on the browser, they serve out request at different rates. The faster your computer can put out those request, the faster your internet. So naturally, different browsers will have different speeds, though that's a bit too much. Did you do them at the same time of the day?

It has little to do with the browsers themselves. There is something else at play here. I would rerun the test a couple more times and see what happens.

I think it might be happening because of the number of links that each browser uses. Firefox usually uses more links to webpages and files, so you get a higher practical speed using Firefocks! Oh this kind of link that I mentioned here is different thank the weblinks you see on pages:
http://www.google.com
They are more like streams of data!!

Have you ever thought:
Firefox = [pronounced] Fire - F*CKS
Google Chrome = [The logo] is representing 666
Opera, Maxton, Safari, IE god knows what is up with them, or maybe nothing. I am just being suspicious! Nothing to worry about!
