Let do this by comparing the important parts

Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-K8N Ultra-9 Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra

Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-SLI nForce4 Ultra SLI

OEM ASUS - I believe this what dell comes with

Abit KV-80 VIA K8M800

The win goes to the 2 gigabytes motherboards. Performance they about the same between the GA-K8N Ultra-9 and Ultra-SLI. If you ever plan to use SLI then the GA-K8N Ultra-SLI better otherwise it does not matter.

CPU
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 1GHz
AMD ATHLON64 4000+
Pentium® 4 Processor 630
AMD® Athlon-64 3000+

Athlon 64 4000+ am going to say is the best cpu out of those. THe pentium would be better in mutistasking but the athlon 64 3000+ better for gaming. So secound place will be a tie between all 3.

Video card
Geforce 6800GT
ATI RADEON X800 256MB
ATI Radeon™ X850 XT
Nvidia GeForce 6600-GT 128MB

This a tough call but I would say the x850 XT is the best video card out of those. Secound the 6800 GT.

RAM
Ram in all you getting 1gb of memory and DDR2 not really much of a advantage so I giving a tie for all of them

Other none system parts
Monitor
1.SAMSUNG 710N-BK Black 17" 12ms LCD Monitor - Retail

Games:
Half Life 2 PC Game SIERRA - Retail
Guild Wars PC Game NCSOFT - Retail

2. FujiPlus FP568 15" TFT LCD Monitor (2TONE - BLK/SIL)

3. Monitors FREE UPGRADE! 17 inch E173FP Analog Flat Panel

4.LCD Monitor Optiquest 17" TFT LCD Monitor [Black]

Half Life 2

Here I give the win to the custom build which I think clearly have the most expensive monitor and 2 games.

CONCLUSION
The easiest decision is that number 4 the wrost so we scratch that one off.

Only thing dell got going for it is the video card. The video card is definally not worth $100 more then a 6800GT so we cross that one off.

That leaves the custom built and cyberpowersystem. It get a little tricky here. While custom build you clearly get the better monitor(I could never use a 15" monitor my self) and you get a better video card. The cyberpowersystem got the SLI motherboard going for it and the better cpu. I going to make the final decision by calculating cost differces

Highest cost wins

Custom
Athlon 64 3000+ $146
GIGABYTE GA-K8N Ultra-9 $129
xfx 6800GT $284
17" samsung monitor $255
cheaper from other system by $103

Total: $917

Cyberpower
athlon 64 4000+ $473
x800 $194
GIGABYTE GA-K8N Ultra-sli $134
x800 $194
15" LCD monitor $160

Total: $961

Hmm only a $50 difference that really did not help. Well it comes down to this then

1. what more important to you CPU or Video card?

2. do you want to put it togeather?

3. Could you stand using a 15" monitor?

http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814122209

I'm buying a computer for about $1500. At first I was thinking of building one, but my dad told me to shop it against prebuilt ones. I have a couple of places to shop against it.
What are we judging these computers for?

- First impression is that it seems that the Newegg one was built with "accessories and blind-bling" in mind rather than performance.
- Box2 outdoes Box1 easily but i question why they used a SLI board when its kinda pointless given the videocard ... i am somewhat concerned about the nonlisted PSU on box2
- Box3 is not a good choice as they dont even list the mobo (it's a hacked ASUS board btw) .. they also skip out on the PSU
- Box4 is decent but the Via board+66GT wont let it outpace Box2

Which one would be the best buy for the money?
Tentatively, box2 .. but you've not said what you're going to do with the box?

Athlon 64 4000+ am going to say is the best cpu out of those. THe pentium would be better in mutistasking but the athlon 64 3000+ better for gaming. So secound place will be a tie between all 3.
Assuming they are all the same core generation then the 4000 is best period. if they are separated by a generation then the 4000 is best out of the box, the others are (potentially) better after OCing

This a tough call but I would say the x850 XT is the best video card out of those. Secound the 6800 GT.
I tend to concurr but for the lack of listed motherboard ... not worth it.

Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA4000BNBOX - Retail

A lot more expensive, maybe i should spring for 3700+?
Not a world of difference between the 4000+ and 3700+ (assuming both San Diego)

MORE EDITS: went back to original video card and got a different mobo:
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
You were miles better off with the DFI board

okay i'll probably get it from newegg then
Well i didnt mean that specifically ... i mean get the parts from wherever it's cheap ... on a part by part basis rather than a store by store basis

or figure out which site specializes in what parts....

some sites give good deals on ram, Hd's, Vid cards... as "accessories" they figure you pay the premium for the mobo/processor, they can give a deal on the "accessories" so you only buy the accessories, and order your Mobo/processor from somewhere than tries to make money on the accessories, but cuts you a hellacious deal on the mobo-cpu...
good luck!

this is based on the theory that you will order it all from one place to make your life easier....
