Diffrence between GDDR3 and GDDR2

yes, not much uses over 1gb of video ram, gddr3 is also faster than gddr2, the 9600gt 512mb is an ok card, if you can afford it, i would reccomend going with an ati radeon 4850 512mb graphics card

yes 512mb gddr3 is better than 2gb gddr2.
gddr3 is double-pumped...i.e it operates at an effective rate that is twice it's physical memory core clock...so a 900Mhz gdd3 will actually run at 1800Mhz.
In case of gddr5 it is quad-pumped.....
gddr3 is just blazing compared to gddr2.
512mb gddr3 will handle 2gb frame buffer in 4 parts...one after the another....but due to it's shear speed it will still manage to easily outperform any 2gb ddr2...which can handle 2gb frame buffer at once.
so go for gddr3.....it will be a shame if you go for gddr2 when gddr5 has already arrived and kicking.
