First, I'd like to point out I am by far an expert when it comes to computers but I do have some knowledge. I will tell you as much as my mediocre mind can handle! I have a dimension 4100 with O/S Windows ME with only 64mb of RAM. After the wrong RAM (a stick of 256mb) was installed (wasn't me that did it) now when i turn on the computer i have no monitor (just stays in hibernating mode). On start up i can hear the processor and drives kick in and start up but i have no lights on the keyboard and no monitor function (No beeps either!). I figured that maybe installing the correct RAM (1 256mb stick of PC133) would perhaps fix the issue. Boy was i naive! After reading a couple of forums I concluded that it must be the motherboard so I purchased a new motherboard and installed and only put in the original RAM (64mb) in hopes everything would be back to normal. I still have no monitor. I havent seen any other forum suggesting I fried more than the motherboard, but is it possible the CPU or anything else is shot? What have i not done correctly? Also, does my combo of (1 64mb of RAM) and (1 256mb RAM) conflict? Should they both be the same in order to work? I feel i have just wasted not only my time but also money purchasing the new motherboard. please help.
