Dimension E520 Help!

Ok so my friend game me this old Dell E520 and i want it to run D3 and i was wondering if it could use this processor? processorhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116093

i'm also buying 4 gigs of ram and gpu.

all help is appreciated :)
 
If you want to buy him new CPU/GPU/RAM you'll also need a new powersupply to handle the increased power draw.

It may not support the processor you linked without a new motherboard.

At this point it would be better to build a new custom system entirely.
 
...i remember working on one of those...tooless on those was nice...easy to take apart and get back together but yea, may only take minor upgrades without a psu upgrade, and it seems as if it will take a c2d at the most...which isnt alot by todays standards, but may be enough to move data from a decent gpu...

read up...apparently someone even fit a q6700 in a e520....so you may be good, check out the machines support page...read up a bit on it.

i've been trying to help him find out what we can put in it, but no matter where we look we cant find out what processors it can take, they now sell the same system with a core2duo but i would imagine they have since changed the motherboard they put in it. Just wondering if someone could clarify and confirm it. and we already were planning on putting a new psu on it, he just wants to save as much money as he can, hes on a budget.
