Ok first of all sorry for the new thread but nobody seems to want to look at my other thread about the same subject.

Whats the difference between those 2 types of Ram DIMM - SDRAM?

And would these ram sticks fit the dell 8400, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231018 because im led to believe i need DIMM chips.

Also what does Unbuffered mean?

Thanks hopefully you can help.

Sorry for new thread, again lol.

Those are two different attributes of RAM. SDRAM is the technology that the RAM uses, DIMM is the package that the RAM comes in. Its like comparing the colour of a car to the engine type.

Googling the Dell 8400 reveals that it uses DDR-2 SDRAM memory running at a frequency of 533MHz. Which means that the memory that you linked to will work fine. Although 2GB seems like an awful lot for an upgrade. How much RAM do you currently have and why exactly do you need an extra 2GB?

Kool thanks for that reply, I use my computer for gaming mainly for half life2 and counter strike source, and use it for photoshtop.
