direct x wont install

so i tride to install direct x 9.0c and instead of installing it goes right to the end screen saying it was installed when it wasnt. games like cs source wont work because i dont have directx installed. also when i look to see what version i have it tells me i have none?

im guessing that it detects that you may of gotten a version already. try updating it with this one.

You can go to start>run> and type dxdiag and that will bring up a box with a buch of direct x specs.
