Directx 9 error

Hi all,

Ive searched the forums but cant find anything that will help my problem. I just did a system restore to my computer. Now im installing Sony Vegas 6 and I need to install Directx 9 in-order to run Vegas. I downloaded Directx 9, but im getting an error before I can even install it. Its saying 0x80004005...i dunno what it means, if anyone can help. If you need the exact qoute of what it says, i can try opening again later tonight, im on a different computer. Any help will be highly appreciated

By the way, the exact qoute is

"This older version of the browser is not supported. [Error : 0x80004005]"
 
I don’t know I thought that a system restore doesn’t take back the vital major components that have been installed because it has installed over them “correct me if I’m wrong” try an older direct x try disabling you firewall that’s the best I can do without being at your computer
