DirectX 9C with every install?..Win7

everytime i install a game now since i got windows 7 it always installs DX9 witout giving me a choice...you think one install would be enough..is this normal?:eek:
 
Is the DVD-ROM disk the original disk or the one downloaded from the internet like let's say...torrents?

Also what do you use for the graphics?Is it a video memory from the motherboard or a separate graphic card?

ps..I'm old, I always gotta pee

no torrents,,games I've bought ..all downloads so far.
using AMD 6530d onboard card
 
Alot of games and programs require directX to run, so it usually comes on the disc and will auto install during the installation.
 
Windows 7 comes with DirectX 10 so you should have 10 on every install.
You can try this:

1. Format the entire HDD using KILLDISK and then install Windows 7...

2. Install DirectX 10 manually...

3. Try using a good video card and attempt Windows 7 installation again...


Sometimes Windows OS automatically switches to an older DirectX version because of the hardware limitations and therefore it does not allow newer DirectX version to be used since the hardware cannot even use it.This applies to the graphic's hardware.
For instance: If you have a video/graphic card which is capable of only DirectX 9 then Windows will not be able to use DirectX 10 since the hardware (graphic card) cannot produce it...

You have an onboard card and onboard cards are usually a lot weaker than the real dedicated video cards.

Also be sure that Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk is the original one and not the pirated copy.Pirated copies usually contain some extra trash and can cause many different problems.

Yes, it is normal. The reason for installing DirectX again and again is to make sure that your computer has the same files that the developer used when making the game. If this didn't happen, you might not be able to run the game at all.

It doesn't actually install it, it just runs the installer as the game requires it. If you already have the version required or a later version, it will either say you have them and an installation isn't required, or it will automatically close the installer without any action taken.

As mentioned, it is completely normal and 9 times out of 10, doesn't actually change anything or install anything
