Why are you trying to do this if you need to ask if it's wise?
The most horrific excuses for computing environments I've ever seen all had windows updates disabled..

If you have Pro, I don't see a problem with using the Group Policies to switch to the notifications only. This was my preference in Windows 7/8.
I definitely wouldn't disable the update service completely, which seems to be your only option if you are on home edition. Considering Windows 10 is brand new, there are going to be a lot of important updates coming that you won't want to miss.

Thanks Troncoso; i think that's a very polite reply to my post, and that's what we need here; I just need to disable Ati drivers update, that has been causing me issues, thanks.
