Disabled driver

I've a Plextor PX-880SA CD/DVD drive that used to work, but now does not.

I've searched this forum as well as outside for solutions, but haven't found anything to help.

When in Device Manager, it apparently detects the driver, but says it's disabled. Gee, thanks! Tell me how to enable it!!!!!

I've deleted the driver, then rebooted, but that didn't seem to help.

I've run chkdsk, no help.

Any ideas?

thanks,

Bob

Is there a code error in device status box? Can you post a screenshot of the device manager? Try a different drive first to see if its just a bad drive.

Location 0, (channel 1, target 0, Lun 0)

"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"

Do you have any type of drive emulation software installed such as alcohol120 or the like?

That last one did the trick John.

Once again, you've pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat!

thanks again,

Bob
