Disabling onboard graphics card

hello,

I just bought a geforce 8500gt graphics and want to install it but I don't know how to disable the graphics card on my motherboard.

Many thanks
Dyl.

There are generally two things to do for that. The first is referring to the user manual for the appropiate setting change in the bios in order to see PCI-E set as the default adapter type there.

After when booted into Windows you simply right click on the MyCompuer shortcut, properties, device manager, display adapters to simply right click on the onboard "integrated" graphics item there to select disable. That will prevent the drivers installed for the onboard from clashing with those for the card installed seeing them made inactive.

For most systems you would want both. The default display adapter is set in the bios while the disable option in the right click menu while in the DM insures nothing springs to life to cause any problem there.
