This is not really related to Computers but I think it would be the same for all machines, my PS2 has problems reading game discs and I suspect the disc reader is dirty, i took it to the shop and they said to fix they problem they have to take the PS2 apart and would costs about 100 US dollars, however when I went to another shop they said I could use a cotton bud and stick it in the PS2 to clean the disc reader, however my PS2 is the old bulky one and I have no idea how to do it. Can anyone help me??

Thanks

Blow it out with a leaf blower or something high powered, and then get one of those disc that clean the lens of cd/dvd players. Should work fine after that.

i had the same problem, with the same kind of playstation, like teamhex said, use something to blow it out, then use one of those disks with a brush on it

Unscrew the case and remove the cover. (Just be sure if it's REALLY old that you don't rip the ribbon cable that controls the open/close and reset buttons. then unscrew the disc chamber cover and wipe the lens with a q-tip.

If that was confusing, try reading this Guide instead! Tells you everything you need to know!

Thanks for all your replies I am sure it would help, however I only have time to try these methods over the weekends. Special Thanks to voyagerfan99 that link really helped!!

I had a lot of issues with my first PS2. The lens died right when I bought "Real World Golf" two years ago. Needless to say, I got pretty pissed, and ended up spending ALL my money on a new (used from GameStop) PS2.

I need to get a flip-top and some swap-magic disks.

Broken lens is common thing to happen to PS2. Hope is just dirty. But if you need a new lens check out ebay for new one.
