Disconnecting from games....need some help

Whats up everyone? So heres my problem....When I am playing BF2, CS:S, or any online game, after about 20 min or so i get disconnected from the game server. I do not lose net connectivity to my computer at all, it only happens with the game(s). I have checked in depth for spyware and/or virii and my system is completely clean. I have a cable modem with 1.5mb down and 500(?)kb up. The cable modem feeds into my wireless netgear router. We have 3 laptops and 3 desktops running on the LAN. 90% of the time, 4 out of 6 of the computers are sitting idle (no one is using them). I was thinking maybe I am pulling too much bandwidth with my LAN but i'm not sure. What do you guys think? I'm stumped and it is getting really annoying.

well first of all, what is ur ping during play? sometimes the server will disconnect you b/c ping too high. Also, have u downloaded all the patches for the games you play? a lot of times games tend to have a lot of bugs to be worked out in their multiplayer. Farcry cam out with a patch a week after its release. check the games homepages for the patch releases.

With wireless, online gaming is tricky. I too sometimes get disconnected from servers randomly, but i can instantly reconnct and play for a few hours again before it happens. Netgear isn't my favorite brand either...so that could jsut be a quality issue with the product. Under heavy bandwidth usage like online games your wireless oruter might just poop out.

Try updating drivers, firmware, and any kind of patches your OS thinks it needs. This can often solve compatibility issues that might cause disconnection.

My disconnections aren't too frequent, and sometimes only occur in spurts, but i think it's because i'm about 60ft+ away from my WAP and there are numerous walls/doors in the way. I also share the wirelesss router with 4 other wireless computers.

My pings in game are never higher than 75ish. My signal strength to my wifi connection ranges from "very good" to "excellent". As for the latest patches for games, yes i do have them patched. XP is updated, latest drivers, etc, im meticulous about that. This is just really frustrating. I really think that my LAN is just pulling too much bandwidth from comcast or something of that nature. Like i said, the weird part is that I do not lose my internet connection, just my connection to the server in which im playing a game. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. One more thing....the actual cable modem is probably about 3-4 years old, would you think that could just be crapping out?

3-4 yr.s old? yah i'd say that can be a problem. are you on wireless B? consider upgrading to G or better if u want a longer range and better quality signal.

I have a netgear wireless super-g router so i dont think im limited in terms of hardware capability (with the exception of that damn modem).

Edited: also, when i do get disconnected, i can immediatly join the server again as well.

Im thinking you are right Johnny. We all know BF2 has already been plagued with more bugs than a cockroach infested crackhouse. I still love the damn game though!
