Disguising an ugly server!???

Ok, so I have a Living room with no place to hide this server, my GF thinks it's ugly, and for once I kinda agree.

So, what can I use to disguise it? I was thinking about building something (probably from wood) and somehow making it look camouflaged basically.

The case is huge! 21.5" X 19" X 8" (H x L x W)

Can I just hide the case with something? Build a box to go over it? or just build something from scratch?

There will be 2 wires running to the case, power, and ethernet cable.

This is the case -

Oh yeah, i don't feel like spending $100 on another HTPC case so that option is out. And it Must be in the Living room.

I would just build some sort of cabinet (depending on your wood working skills).
Just leave room for airflow.

GF doesnt think the Antec 900 is ugly though :D ?

She's not allowed in my computer room, the server will be moving to LR soon. Just prepping it with and OS, and configurations.

There is no other room that you can put it in?

My servers are in my bedroom right now but I am in the process of moving them (we are having another baby) into the basement. I will just remote desktop into them when I need to.

If that is as loud as my servers, do you really want to listen to it while you are in the living room?

I put mine into a cabinet and cut a 80mm hole and mounted a small fan on the back of the cabinet to allow for some airflow. Works great.

Ok here's a better explanation!

That's my office btw:

I know it's a mess right now!

I also was pondering this room (on the right):

Which would be great! But there's no pass through, no Outlet, nothing. I am renting, and don't want to do much damage to anything. I was thinking about just sneaking a small extension cord, and Ethernet cable through the wall (cause the hall way is unfinished).

I just bought a Gigabit switch as well as a Gigabit PCI card for this server so I want a real high speed connection to my HTPC (for streaming). Thus the need to place my server in the LR.

I hope this is a little clearer.

In the second-to-last pic...

Are the TV stand and black shelves pushed up against the wall or is there some space back there? Is it possible to pull the black shelf out and keep the server back there? Still good airflow and the noise should be somewhat muted. Reason I ask about current space behind the TV stand is to make sure everything is flush when it's done (OCD for me - I'd go crazy looking at it knowing it was off by anything more than 1/2 inch, but that's just me!)

You could always so what i did, I need to cover up my wires, And i have an remote control Dog, And i had a knife and a box, So i made a dog house for my robotic pup. And i accidently cut my finger and blood was coming out everywere.... But the important thing is, Get creative, Make something to look cool :D

P.S dont cut your self

YEah and cut a mouth hole for the cd drive and cut to eye holes for were the buttons are and BAM you have a ghost computer.

I was actually thinking of something a little more tasteful...

And I think I am gonna try to get the wires through the wall, there's no room behind the TV stand or the bookshelves really.

Hmm, think there's any problem keeping the subwoofer so close to the PC? I just noticed that.
