When i run disk defragmenter, my laptop always hangs.
It always hangs when it reaches 3%.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Could be file system corruption. So run chkdsk /r once; it might take a while, but let it complete it's run.
Instructions on how to run chkdsk are here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265

BTW, what defragger are you using? Do you have sufficient disk space to defrag? The built-in Windows defragger requires a minimum of 15%, though third party utilities can function under much less. Try the free trial download of the excellent Diskeeper 2009 from http://www.diskeeper.com it should defrag without any problems. Run it in automatic defrag mode for optimum performance. The trial version works for 30 days, so there's plenty of time to use it.

You could try using the Defraggler program by Piriform. It gives you the option to defrag the files rather than defrag the whole computer. I found that my system got hung on defragging so I defragged the files, then defragged the whole PC. I don't know how but it stopped getting stuck.

thanks everyone for the help. I used defraggler program by pririform.
It seems that my laptop unable to defragged the whole thing too.

Under Defraggler, Analyze the computer. Then go to the File List tab. Check the box that selects all files and hit Defrag select files. This will only defrag individual files. Then go back to the main tab and see if it allows to defragment the whole thing

Well, it seems computer cannot provide enough space to run it smoothly.

So, you need to clean junk files thoroughly.
